Lew Graham

1867 – Sept. 19, 1935

Nathan (Lew) Graham was born at Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana in 1867, his father was a prominent merchant in Crawfordsville.

At the age of fourteen Lew left home and joined the band of the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Lew is best known as a sideshow manager but because of his extraordinary voice, he also served as the big show announcer. It is said that his voice without amplification, could be heard in every seat of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus' massive big top.

Graham is credited with promoting the Muse Brothers to fame. He renamed them Eko and Iko, and billed them as the "Ambassadors from Mars".

Nathan Lew Graham died September 19, 1935 in Middleton, NY at age 73, he is buried at the Pine Grove Cemetery Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts.
